Pumpkin Palooza

This week we jumped into the halloween spirit.

Tuesday night we roamed about the D.I. looking for wonderful gems to use for costumes. A pair of men's brown and white polka dotted pajamas was the winner of the night followed closely by the bright purple crocks. Although the prize for most useful item went to the small blue, flamingo clad make-up bag for 50 cents.

Thursday night we put our costumes into use at the ward fall social. Sadly we were too big to participate in the children's halloween carnival. At these times we think that having a kid would be most adventageous. I suppose we'll just have to borrow some other people's kids for the next nine months...and a little while longer than that as well.

Saturday amidst many hours of studying (for Steve) we made our way to a young married's activity at the institute. This was in conjunction with the married seminar class we are taking at the institute. They fed us free dinner and then we got to carve a pumpkin. We found a fine looking pumpkin and cut its top off to find that it was rotten inside. Steve graciously took the manly job of gutting the rotten pumpkin and we didn't worry about trying to roast the green, smelly seeds. So, we salvaged the rotten pumpkin and carved a silly, happy face into its side.

Other highlights of the week:
  • Steve passed another one of the skills tests that he has to get 100% on to pass his finance class. Four down, Five to go.
  • Alisha survived a 102 degree fever Thursday afternoon and had an impressive recovery once Steve was home to nurse her back to health.
  • We braved a late night (starting a movie at 10:30) in order to get the scoop on Ryan's dating life. Alisha enjoyed the movie while Steve watched the other show.
  • We realized that we have entered the "old and married" stage of life when we were grocery shopping on a Saturday night and home by 9 pm.
  • We survived speaking in our new (old) ward sacrament meeting. Now that they've seen what we're made of maybe they will let us have a calling. We're crossing our fingers.
