Steve and I have been reading the Old Testament together. Honestly, I don't understand much of it. Or sometimes I understand, but it is incredibly boring. Last night we read about all the borders of the land that the tribe of Benjamin was given for an inheritance. The most fun thing about it was trying to pronounce the names of all the cities or geographical areas or whatever they were. But, in spite of the limited understanding and whatever else, I'm glad that we are reading it together. Every once in a while we come across some little gem. The following is one that we read a few weeks ago, but I've been thinking about it ever since, so I thought I would share it with you.
Joshua 3:5
And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.
The Lord has a great and marvelous work going on here and he will use us to be a part of it if we will but "Sanctify [ourselves]". As we do so, we will have the spirit as our guide and see the wonders of the Lord in our life. At this time in our life, we definately have been seeking an added measure of the spirit to understand how to proceed with all the changes we have coming up. Between job searching and housing options and impending parenthood we are a little anxious, stressed, and sometimes ornery about the uncertainties surrounding us. It is comforting to remember that as we do our part to live righteously, the Lord will take care of us and produce wonders in his own time and way. And those wonders will be just what we need. Thanks to everyone for your love and support in this growing stage of our life. And thanks to Joshua for this little reminder.
